Senior Engineer - Mechanical Systems

About the Role

Day-to-day, the Senior Engineer will be involved in a wide range of activities, from analyzing and designing mechanical systems to coordinating with site construction teams and managing the disposition of Field Change Notices and Non-Conformances Reports. This role requires a strong technical foundation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What You Will Do

• Provide mechanical system engineering support for the BWRX-300 SMR system design and construction activities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, fabrication, and construction teams, to ensure effective project execution
• Analyze and design mechanical systems to meet project requirements and specifications
• Coordinate and manage the disposition of Field Change Notices and Non-Conformances Reports
• Provide technical guidance and support to site teams to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions resulting from quality noncompliance monitoring and audit programs
• Liaise with customers, in partnership with engineering leadership and Project Management, to ensure effective communication and issue resolution
• Interface with cross-functional teams and departments to complete assigned system design activities
• Undertake necessary corrective and preventive actions resulting from quality noncompliance monitoring and audit programs
• Support the development of system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, and selection and implementation of the best designs
• Verify that the design is properly integrated and executed, and that projects are constructed in accordance with plans and specifications

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering
• Minimum 8 years of experience in an engineering role, with at least 5 years of experience in nuclear system design activities
• Strong technical skills in mechanical systems engineering, including experience with process flow diagrams, thermodynamic and heat/fluid flow transfer calculations, and engineering specifications
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance and support
• Demonstrated ability to lead programs and projects, with a strong focus on results-driven delivery and customer satisfaction
• Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction

Nice to Have

• Master's degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering
• Ontario P. Eng license (for Canadian applicants)
• Experience working in a remote or flexible work environment
• Familiarity with GE Vernova's systems and processes
• Certification in project management or a related field
