About the Role
The Senior Engineer - Mechanical Systems role at GE Vernova is a critical position that involves leading mechanical system design and construction activities for the BWRX-300 SMR system. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems engineering principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. As a key member of the Systems Engineering leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical guidance and support to ensure the successful execution of projects.Day-to-day, the Senior Engineer will be involved in a wide range of activities, from analyzing and designing mechanical systems to coordinating with site construction teams and managing the disposition of Field Change Notices and Non-Conformances Reports. This role requires a strong technical foundation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What You Will Do
- Provide mechanical system engineering support for the BWRX-300 SMR system design and construction activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, fabrication, and construction teams, to ensure effective project execution
- Analyze and design mechanical systems to meet project requirements and specifications
- Coordinate and manage the disposition of Field Change Notices and Non-Conformances Reports
- Provide technical guidance and support to site teams to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions resulting from quality noncompliance monitoring and audit programs
- Liaise with customers, in partnership with engineering leadership and Project Management, to ensure effective communication and issue resolution
- Interface with cross-functional teams and departments to complete assigned system design activities
- Undertake necessary corrective and preventive actions resulting from quality noncompliance monitoring and audit programs
- Support the development of system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, and selection and implementation of the best designs
- Verify that the design is properly integrated and executed, and that projects are constructed in accordance with plans and specifications
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of experience in an engineering role, with at least 5 years of experience in nuclear system design activities
- Strong technical skills in mechanical systems engineering, including experience with process flow diagrams, thermodynamic and heat/fluid flow transfer calculations, and engineering specifications
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance and support

- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering
- Ontario P. Eng license (for Canadian applicants)
