About the Role
The Senior Engineering Manager position at Dropbox is a pivotal role that entails leading a team of engineers in the development of next-generation, AI-powered applications. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of applied AI, leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), building autonomous agents, and advancing search and retrieval systems. As a senior leader, you will be responsible for driving direct business and customer impact, working closely with cross-functional partners, and defining the strategy for the Core Media & Intelligence team.The Core Media & Intelligence team is at the heart of Dropbox's mission to design and ship intelligent, vertical solutions that deeply understand customer workflows. As the leader of this team, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of Dropbox and creating innovative solutions that empower individuals and businesses to collaborate and share content seamlessly.
What You Will Do
- Lead a team of 12-20 engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship to help them grow in their careers
- Develop and execute the technical strategy for the Core Media & Intelligence team, aligning with Dropbox's overall mission and goals
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including product management, design, and sales, to drive business and customer impact
- Drive the development of AI-powered applications, leveraging LLMs, autonomous agents, and other cutting-edge technologies
- Work closely with the engineering team to design, develop, and ship high-quality software products
- Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning within the team
- Develop and manage the team's budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and ROI
- Collaborate with other engineering leaders to drive technical initiatives and standards across the company
- Participate in the hiring process, helping to attract and recruit top talent to the team
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on technical leadership and management
- Strong technical expertise in areas such as AI, machine learning, and cloud computing
- Experience leading high-performing teams, with a proven track record of driving business and customer impact
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve exceptional results
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions
- Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Azure
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
