About the Role

The Senior Engineering Manager, Core Media & Intelligence role at Dropbox is a pivotal position that will lead the development of next-generation, AI-powered applications built end-to-end on top of Dropbox's innovative cloud-based solutions. As a senior leader in the company, you will be responsible for driving direct business and customer impact independently, leveraging your robust managerial toolbox to build and lead high-performing teams. Your team will work at the forefront of applied AI, leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), building autonomous agents, advancing search and retrieval systems, and integrating computer vision and contextual intelligence to reimagine how users interact with their content.

The Core Media & Intelligence team's mission is to design and ship intelligent, vertical solutions that deeply understand customer workflows and deliver differentiated, high-impact experiences. As a leader in this team, you will be expected to drive a culture of innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence, working closely with cross-functional partners and other teams to build the future of Dropbox.

What You Will Do

  • Lead a team of 12-20 engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship to help them grow in their careers
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to drive business and customer impact, working closely with stakeholders to identify key priorities and objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and marketing, to build and launch new products and features
  • Drive technical innovation and excellence, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in AI, machine learning, and cloud computing
  • Manage and optimize engineering processes, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of high-quality software products
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, encouraging experimentation, feedback, and growth
  • Work with data scientists and engineers to develop and implement data-driven solutions, using tools like Excel to analyze and visualize data
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation plans to support engineering initiatives
  • Collaborate with other leaders to drive company-wide initiatives and strategic plans

What We Are Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years of experience in a leadership role
  • Strong technical skills in AI, machine learning, and cloud computing, with experience in languages like Python, Java, or C++
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with experience in building and leading high-performing teams
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with experience in debugging and troubleshooting complex software issues
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools like Excel, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Nice to Have

  • Experience with LLMs, autonomous agents, and computer vision
  • Knowledge of cloud-based solutions like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools like Jenkins, Travis CI, or CircleCI
