About the Role
The Senior Engineering Manager position at Twilio is a key leadership role that entails driving the development and scaling of high-scale data platforms and pipelines. As a member of the Segment team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining complex distributed systems that process hundreds of thousands of data points per second. This role is critical to Twilio's mission of delivering innovative solutions to businesses and empowering developers worldwide.The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and experience managing software teams. You will be expected to champion team growth and success, prioritize mentorship and individual development, and guide technical decisions that balance cost, performance, and reliability.

What You Will Do
- Own and deliver robust, high-scale routing experiences for Data platforms & pipelines for Twilio Segment
- Champion team growth and success, prioritizing mentorship and individual development
- Architect and operate always-available, complex distributed systems in cloud environments
- Guide technical decisions, articulating trade-offs between cost, performance, and reliability
- Advocate for agile processes, continuous integration, and robust automation
- Translate complex technical strategies into actionable plans for diverse stakeholders, including Product Managers and Architects
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes and growth
- Develop and maintain technical roadmaps and strategies for the team
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
What We Are Looking For
- 14+ years of engineering experience with a 5+ year proven track record managing software teams
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Proven experience managing multiple workstreams within the team
- Demonstrated commitment to driving an AI-centric engineering mindset and providing mentorship on leveraging AI-enabled development platforms
- Technical depth in distributed systems, high-scale ingestion, and cloud-native architecture
- Hands-on experience with high-scale messaging/streaming systems and processing engines (several thousand events/sec)
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and operational excellence skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with GenAI/LLM solutions and their application in real-world engineering or data processing problems
- Knowledge of cloud-based technologies and platforms
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices
