About the Role

TravelLocal is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to join their team in Berlin, with the option to work remotely from the UK or Germany. As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for leading the frontend development of their two-sided marketplace, working closely with the product designer and product manager to create a seamless user experience.

The role entails working on a wide range of tasks, from building responsive and accessible interfaces to establishing and maintaining a component library. You will be part of a small, cross-functional team, and your work will have a direct impact on the company's conversion rates and customer outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • Build responsive, accessible interfaces that people enjoy using and trust
  • Translate Figma designs into polished, well-structured frontend code
  • Work closely with the product designer and product manager as a collaborative trio
  • Establish and maintain a component library as a single source of truth for the UI
  • Contribute to the CI/CD pipeline to make deployments reliable and easy to roll back
  • Review code and hold a high bar for quality
  • Use AI tooling as a productivity multiplier
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and prioritize new features and improvements
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure that the codebase is maintainable and scalable
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest frontend development trends and best practices

What We Are Looking For

  • Demonstrable senior-level experience in frontend engineering
  • Strong hands-on skills with React and TypeScript
  • Solid experience with Next.js or similar React framework
  • Experience working with GraphQL and typed API clients
  • Strong skills in semantic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
  • Familiarity with AI tooling and its applications in frontend development

Nice to Have

  • Experience with other programming languages, such as Python or Java
