Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Growth Engineer position at Buffer is a critical component of the company's mission to provide essential tools for small businesses and creators to grow and succeed. As a key member of the Growth Marketing team, the successful candidate will be responsible for building the web experiences, systems, and infrastructure that drive Buffer's growth. This includes developing features and pages across buffer.com, interactive tools, referral systems, and conversion flows, as well as integrating with marketing tools, analytics, and tracking systems.

The role requires a deep understanding of modern web development, particularly with React, as well as the ability to dive into backend logic, connect third-party APIs, and debug tracking pipelines. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across the full frontend scope, with a strong focus on craft, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards.

The Senior Growth Engineer will report to the Head of Engineering Operations and work closely with the Marketing team, including the Director of Growth Marketing and the Head of Communications and Content. This collaborative environment values pace, iteration, and a 'no ego' approach, where team members are encouraged to test and confirm ideas.

What You Will Do

  • Own growth engineering projects end-to-end, from implementation to launch
  • Develop features and pages across buffer.com, including interactive tools and conversion flows
  • Integrate with marketing tools, analytics, and tracking systems
  • Build and maintain the technical infrastructure behind Buffer's marketing features
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and execute growth strategies
  • Work with the UX Designer to build web experiences that drive user engagement
  • Debug and optimize tracking pipelines and backend logic
  • Develop and maintain the SEO infrastructure for buffer.com
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the codebase
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on frontend engineering
  • Strong proficiency in React and modern web development
  • Experience with GTM, Programmatic, and Google Sheets
  • Ability to work across the full frontend scope, including backend logic and API integration
  • Strong understanding of UX principles and human-centered design
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
