Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Investigator will be a key member of IP House's Special Investigations Unit, responsible for leading complex investigations into intellectual property infringement. This will involve using advanced OSINT techniques and digital intelligence tools to identify and attribute threat actors, as well as collaborating with analysts, investigators, attorneys, law enforcement, and clients to advance investigations and achieve case objectives. The successful candidate will be able to function in a broad-based, fast-paced, high-energy environment, with a strong focus on delivering impactful investigations. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on high-profile cases, utilizing your expertise in OSINT methodologies, intellectual property law, and emerging threats to make a meaningful impact. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, law enforcement, and other investigators. As a Senior Investigator at IP House, you will be part of a global team of experts who are passionate about protecting intellectual property and combating counterfeiting, piracy, and IP infringement. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of cases, from digital platforms to physical marketplaces, and to develop your skills in areas such as code review, network traffic analysis, and technical investigations.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct complex investigations into intellectual property infringement using advanced OSINT techniques and digital intelligence tools
  • Gather and analyze information from online sources, including websites, social media, forums, and dark web environments
  • Identify counterfeit, trademark, and copyright infringement operations by uncovering hidden infrastructure, networks, and key actors
  • Perform code review, network traffic analysis, and technical investigations to understand illicit websites, applications, and devices
  • Develop and utilize automation scripts (e.g., Python) to streamline investigative processes
  • Prepare comprehensive investigative reports, criminal referrals, and actionable recommendations to support enforcement and legal action
  • Collaborate with analysts, investigators, attorneys, law enforcement, and clients to advance investigations and achieve case objectives
  • Present findings to stakeholders, translating complex technical information into clear, actionable insights
  • Maintain expertise in OSINT methodologies, intellectual property law, emerging threats, and evolving technologies
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, attending conferences and training sessions as required
  • Participate in the development of investigative strategies and methodologies, contributing to the growth and improvement of the Special Investigations Unit

What We Are Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience conducting complex OSINT investigations, including high-stakes attribution investigations and threat actor identification
  • Advanced expertise in OSINT methodologies, including social engineering, infiltration, data mining, automation, and dark web research
  • Strong technical skills in network traffic analysis, code review, and Python (or similar) scripting for investigative automation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings to diverse audiences and produce detailed investigative reports
  • Experience conducting foreign-language investigations and working across international environments
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and investigative judgment, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of intellectual property laws and the ability to translate legal concepts into effective investigative strategies
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and pursuing infringers, coupled with a passion for IP protection, ethical conduct, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
