Job Description
About the Role
As a Senior or Lead Transmission Line Engineer at Leidos, you will be working on complex electric transmission line design projects for high-voltage and extra high-voltage overhead and underground systems. Your expertise will be crucial in applying industry standards such as NESC, ASCE, and ACI to ensure the safe and efficient transmission of electricity. You will be part of a dynamic team that collaborates closely with clients, project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management personnel.The role involves working on a wide range of projects, from new capacity projects to infrastructure replacement projects, and requires a deep understanding of electrical overhead and underground systems. Your day-to-day tasks will include performing engineering analyses, preparing bidding documents, drafting plans and specifications, and preparing material procurement and construction documents.

What You Will Do
- Apply industry standards such as NESC, ASCE, and ACI to electric transmission line design projects
- Perform engineering analyses and prepare bidding documents, plans, and specifications
- Collaborate with clients, project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management personnel
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals
- Work effectively in a team environment and independently
- Communicate with clients and project teams
- Review full transmission line designs, including PLS-CADD models, foundations, material, plan and profiles, and construction packages
- Develop and manage project schedules and construction work packages
- Ensure compliance with construction specifications and material procurement processes
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering
- Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems for Senior roles
- Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems for Lead roles
- Experience in reviewing full transmission line designs and construction packages
- Knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE code requirements
- Experience with PLS-CADD and foundation analysis software such as LPILE or FAD Tools
- Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
- Proven ability to communicate with clients and project teams
Nice to Have
- Professional Engineer (PE) License or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
- Experience with GO95 standards
- Experience with Construction Management and Support
- Program experience with PLS TOWER, Bentley MicroStation, Bentley ProjectWise, Mathcad, and Autodesk AutoCAD
