About the Role
The Senior Legal Consultant position at mercor is a remote, hourly contract role that requires a highly skilled and experienced legal professional to provide expert support to their team. As a Senior Legal Consultant, you will be responsible for designing legally realistic scenarios from your litigation practice, including motions, discovery, depositions, briefs, and case strategy. You will also be writing 'golden' reference responses at attorney-level quality and grading AI-generated responses against structured rubrics. What You Will Do
- Design legally realistic scenarios from your litigation practice, including motions, discovery, depositions, briefs, and case strategy
- Write 'golden' reference responses at attorney-level quality
- Grade AI-generated responses against structured rubrics
- Provide written feedback to the research team to improve model behavior
- Participate in onboarding office hours and specialty calibration sessions
- Collaborate with the research team to develop and implement new legal solutions
- Analyze complex legal data and provide insights to the team
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including researchers and developers
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the legal industry and apply this knowledge to your work
- Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the development of the company's legal strategy
- Collaborate with other teams, including sales and marketing, to provide legal support and guidance
What We Are Looking For
- 1-4 years of professional experience in civil litigation at a law firm, government agency, or legal department
- A J.D. (U.S./Canada) or LL.B./LL.M. (U.K.) from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in the U.S., Canada, or U.K. (active or inactive)
- Excellent written communication skills with high attention to detail
- Experience with e-discovery, including Relativity, document coding, and privilege review
- Appellate or trial experience
- Familiarity with case management software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
