About the Role

The Senior Legal Project Manager will join Mercury's Legal Operations team, a small but mighty group dedicated to building efficient systems and creatively solving problems. This team loves working together and making the lives of attorneys easier, allowing them to focus on high-priority work. As the first Legal Project Manager, this role will be instrumental in driving the team's success.

The Senior Legal Project Manager will partner closely with attorneys, providing hands-on project management support across various legal areas, including corporate, litigation, IP, regulatory, product, privacy, commercial, and employment. This role will involve managing complex and cross-functional initiatives from start to finish, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with attorneys to provide project management support across multiple legal areas
  • Manage day-to-day corporate work, such as entity management, board and stockholder matters, corporate records, and compliance
  • Drive larger transactions and milestone moments, including product development and launches
  • Own and manage patent and trademark portfolios, including running the patent incentive program
  • Support product and regulatory work, including managing licensing requirements and product compliance efforts
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives with various teams, including product, partnerships, compliance, and finance
  • Collaborate externally with outside counsel, consultants, and financial partners
  • Design and document new processes, fix existing ones, and introduce tooling, automation, and reporting
  • Explore and implement AI solutions to reduce manual work and scale impact
  • Own project plans, timelines, and status updates, anticipating friction and escalating thoughtfully
  • Make decisions, take ownership, and move projects forward with confidence

What We Are Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in legal project management or as a senior paralegal
  • A mix of law firm and in-house experience, ideally at a technology company
  • Experience supporting complex work in corporate, litigation, IP, and/or regulatory areas
  • Experience in Fintech, financial services, or a highly regulated tech environment
  • Strong project management skills and comfort collaborating cross-functionally
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and work well independently with minimal guidance
  • Comfortable making decisions even when the path isn't perfectly clear
  • Solid understanding of legal tech and AI, and ability to apply these tools to reduce manual work and improve efficiency
  • Natural problem-solver with a love of untangling complex challenges
  • Creativity and willingness to challenge the way things have always been done
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and resourceful
