About the Role
The Senior Manager, Firefox Mobile Test Engineering role at Mozilla is a critical position that oversees the development and implementation of test strategies for Firefox Mobile. This involves managing a team of engineers who work on test automation infrastructure, observability tooling, and exploratory testing. The goal is to ensure that Firefox Mobile provides an excellent user experience across Android and iOS platforms. As a senior leader, you will set the overall quality strategy for Firefox Mobile, working closely with cross-functional teams including Android and iOS engineering, product, and UX.Mozilla is dedicated to making the internet a healthier place, and Firefox Mobile is a key part of this mission. The Test Engineering team plays a vital role in achieving these objectives by identifying and addressing quality issues early in the development process.
What You Will Do
- Set and own Firefox Mobile’s overall quality strategy in collaboration with senior mobile leadership
- Manage the Test Automation Engineering team to prioritize high-impact work and detect bugs earlier
- Oversee observability work, including dashboards and automated reporting for quality regressions and product health signals
- Lead exploratory testing efforts and teach exploratory testing skills to the team
- Structure the exploratory testing program for effectiveness and efficiency
- Partner with Product, UX, and Engineering leadership to identify quality gaps and advocate for fixes
- Represent the user's perspective in technical conversations to ensure user needs are met
- Manage and support a geographically distributed team of full-time engineers and contractors
- Work closely with Android and iOS engineering teams to drive development speed, ease, and product quality
What We Are Looking For
- Experience in test automation, observability, and exploratory testing
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to manage distributed teams
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience with test strategy development and implementation
- Knowledge of mobile platforms (Android and iOS) and their respective development ecosystems
- Understanding of software development life cycles and agile methodologies
- Experience with managing contractors and full-time engineers
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Nice to Have
- Experience with open-source software development
- Knowledge of AI, social media, security, and other areas where Mozilla focuses its work
