Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Manager, Program Development & Management will play a critical role in defining and monitoring all aspects of product development at VSP Vision. This will involve partnering with various departments, including design, technical, and manufacturing, to deliver products that align with the company's vision and global sourcing strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of product development concepts, theories, and practices, as well as vision and/or health plan operations.

As a key member of the team, the Senior Manager will influence stakeholders and collaborate cross-functionally to define value propositions and go-to-market strategies that drive adoption, engagement, and growth. This will require excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively use a variety of communication mediums and customized content for targeted audiences.

The Senior Manager will own and drive product development with the cross-functional team and vendors in partnership with design, ensuring that all development meets calendar requirements and continually assessing time impact to deliverables.

What You Will Do

  • Manage and define all aspects of product development, including market opportunity analysis, goal setting, and value proposition development
  • Partner with design, technical, and manufacturing departments to deliver products that align with the company's vision and global sourcing strategy
  • Influence stakeholders and collaborate cross-functionally to define value propositions and go-to-market strategies
  • Utilize data and insights to inform product and market decisions, measure performance, and refine strategies
  • Drive new initiatives and ensure effective positioning, messaging, and readiness for market adoption
  • Maintain current knowledge of vendor and competitor strengths and weaknesses
  • Propose vendor allocation to production and sourcing, and gather development timing
  • Assess the capabilities of all launch raw material suppliers to evaluate risk and create solutions to roadblocks
  • Partner with brand and product teams to determine the best course of product testing and validation
  • Ensure all development meets calendar requirements, continually assessing time impact to deliverables
  • Contribute to the resolution of any issues that may arise, and manage the cost evaluation process to ensure corporate target margins are being met

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 1 additional year of experience related to functional area
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience with responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work, and managing performance of direct reports
  • Advanced understanding of product development concepts, theories, and practices, as well as vision and/or health plan operations
  • Proven ability to plan large projects strategically and influence others to commit and adapt to frequent change
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively use a variety of communication mediums and customized content for targeted audiences
  • Proficiency in Excel
