About the Role
The Senior Manager, Software Engineering will oversee the strategy for a group of teams, leading them to deliver high-quality solutions that drive dental practice automation and efficiency. This role is crucial in shaping the technical strategy of the business, ensuring that engineering best practices are followed, and fostering a culture of innovation and customer-centric thinking. As a key leader, you will work closely with the Director of Engineering and other stakeholders to define and execute the group's strategy, aligning with the organization's goals and vision.The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will involve championing a best-in-class developer experience, harnessing AI productivity tooling, and empowering engineers to build scalable solutions. You will remain up-to-date with the latest technology trends, drive technical conversations, and know when to step in and provide direction or step back and empower others to succeed.
As a people leader, you will be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team, ensuring they have the skills and resources needed to deliver exceptional results. Your team will be responsible for delivering systems that power everything from dental charting and imaging to finance and payments, and online appointment management for thousands of practices and millions of patients.
What You Will Do
- Champion a best-in-class developer experience, harnessing AI productivity tooling, and empowering engineers to build high-quality, scalable solutions
- Work closely with the Director of Engineering and other stakeholders to define and execute the group's strategy
- Remain up-to-date with the latest technology trends and drive technical conversations
- Know when to step in and provide direction or step back and empower others to succeed
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, ensuring they have the skills and resources needed to deliver exceptional results
- Collaborate with Product, Quality, Design, and Data leaders to help teams prioritize and execute effectively
- Ensure teams adhere to security, compliance, and reliability in all aspects of technology delivery
- Set ambitious goals for yourself and your teams to drive business outcomes
- Drive improvement in engineering and operational excellence, defining and owning SLAs and SLOs for your group
- Use engineering instincts to drive technical conversations and know when to dive deep into complex technical problems
- Foster a culture of high performance and customer-centric thinking, with industry-leading engineering best practices to ensure business and customer impact
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on leadership and technical strategy
- Strong technical skills, including expertise in .NET, C#, Linq, Microsoft SQL Server, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Postgres, AWS, Azure, and Azure DevOps
- Experience with AI and machine learning, with a focus on applying these technologies to drive business outcomes
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to dive deep into complex technical problems
- Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as GitHub
- Strong understanding of security, compliance, and reliability in technology delivery
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools, with a focus on using data to inform technical decisions
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams
