About the Role
The Senior Manager, Solutions Architect role at Vercel is a pivotal position that requires a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and sales savvy. As the leader of the APAC SA team, you will be responsible for driving technical excellence, mentoring your team, and collaborating closely with sales leadership to win new business and expand existing accounts. Your day-to-day will involve leading a team of Solutions Architects, ensuring technical excellence across the pre and post sales cycle, and providing hands-on support for key accounts.The role is based in Sydney, Australia, and offers a unique opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about shaping the future of the web. As a leader in the APAC region, you will be expected to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the SA team, aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.
What You Will Do
- Lead, develop, and manage the APAC SA team, including training and career development
- Ensure technical excellence across the pre and post sales cycle
- Provide hands-on support for key accounts as needed, including presentations, architecture reviews, and migration plans
- Oversee and coach SA engagement on strategic accounts and critical deals
- Partner with the engineering organization to provide product feedback from the field
- Develop repeatable plays from trends you are seeing across your team
- Track and report SA performance to Sales and Field Engineering leadership quarterly
- Own org planning, staffing, budgeting, and regional recruiting
- Collaborate with sales leadership to develop and execute account plans
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and growth
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in Solutions Architecture, Sales Engineering, or Technical Pre-sales roles, with at least 2+ years in a leadership position
- Strong background in web technologies, including Next.js, React, Node.js, APIs, and cloud infrastructure
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and scale technical teams in a high-growth environment
- Demonstrated success working with enterprise and commercial customers across diverse industries
- Strong understanding of modern software development workflows, including CI/CD, DevOps, and frontend frameworks
- Experience collaborating with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to drive customer success
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong business acumen, with a deep understanding of the sales process and the role of Solutions Architecture in driving revenue growth
Nice to Have
- Experience working with Vercel, Next.js, or similar frontend frameworks
- Experience leading SA teams at a high-growth SaaS or cloud infrastructure company
- Expertise in developer tooling, edge computing, or performance optimization
- Experience presenting at conferences, webinars, or large-scale customer events
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems
