About the Role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will play a vital role in supporting electric power projects, from conceptual design to technical evaluation and economic analysis. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate with clients to optimize project outcomes, ensuring that technical, commercial, environmental, and financial aspects are thoroughly considered. Your expertise in mechanical design will be instrumental in driving project success. The role entails working closely with cross-functional teams, including project development, engineering, and finance professionals. You will be responsible for leading technical discussions, providing guidance on best practices, and mentoring junior engineers. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be working on a variety of projects, including conventional power projects, such as simple cycle gas turbines, combined cycle projects, coal-fired generation, and steam systems. Your responsibilities will include performing technical evaluations, engineering design reviews, and technical due diligence. You will also have the opportunity to support project economic and cost analysis, risk assessments, and contract development. Travel within the United States and internationally may be required.

What You Will Do

  • Provide development support and conceptual design services to clients
  • Perform technical evaluations of electric power generation projects and facilities
  • Conduct engineering design reviews and technical due diligence
  • Support project development, including project economic and cost analysis, risk assessments, and contract development
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize project outcomes
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers
  • Travel within the United States and internationally as required
  • Lead technical discussions and provide guidance on best practices
  • Support the development of project proposals and bids
  • Collaborate with clients to identify and mitigate project risks

What We Are Looking For

  • BSME in mechanical engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program
  • 12 or more years of experience in the electric power industry
  • Experience in detailed design of the mechanical systems of conventional power projects
  • Excellent technical communication and writing skills
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience with project economic and cost analysis, risk assessments, and contract development
  • Familiarity with international design codes and standards

Nice to Have

  • Experience in technical due diligence and owner’s engineering design reviews of conventional power projects
  • General understanding of power station operations and performance reviews
  • General understanding of process design at electric power generation facilities
  • Economic, cost analysis, and contract development experience
  • Familiarity with automation and AI tools, such as Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel
