Job Description
About the Role
The Senior Medical Science Liaison is a field-based, external customer-facing member of the US therapeutic area medical unit team. This role entails analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating scientific data to key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals, as well as building and maintaining professional relationships with these stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for acquiring and translating customer insights, fostering external expert networks, and compliantly connecting customers to Takeda in order to advance medical strategy and improve patient outcomes.As a Senior Medical Science Liaison, you will be working closely with the US therapeutic area medical unit team to develop and execute medical strategies that align with Takeda's business objectives. Your expertise in hematology and ability to communicate complex scientific information will be critical in this role. You will also be responsible for staying up-to-date on the latest developments in the therapeutic area and competitor landscape, and providing insights to inform and refine medical strategies.
What You Will Do
- Build and maintain professional relationships with key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals in the hematology therapeutic area
- Analyze and interpret complex scientific data and disseminate to key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals in a compliant, fair-balanced, and non-misleading manner
- Support strategically aligned Takeda-sponsored research and appropriately assist with facilitation of medical collaborative studies and investigator-initiated research processes
- Identify and cultivate partnership opportunities between key opinion leaders, healthcare professionals, and Takeda US Medical
- Participate in executing medical strategy at medical conferences, including staffing medical booths and internally communicating medical insights acquired through poster/session attendance and key opinion leader/healthcare professional interactions
- Respond to unsolicited healthcare professional medical information inquiries referred by Medical Information within defined timelines and quality standards
- Leverage digital tools, including AI, to enhance productivity and improve efficiency in key opinion leader/healthcare professional engagement planning and medical insights reporting
- Complete all required customer activity documentation, training, expense reporting, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner
- Develop and execute work plans to achieve the goals of the organization, and gain the support of others
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of therapeutic area key intelligence topics/questions and effectively collect, interpret, and internally communicate medical insights from key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals
What We Are Looking For
- Advanced degree in a relevant scientific field, such as medicine, pharmacy, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a medical science liaison or related role, with a focus on hematology
- Strong knowledge of the hematology therapeutic area and the ability to communicate complex scientific information effectively
- Experience in building and maintaining professional relationships with key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific data
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, with a focus on the West territories, including Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado
