About the Role
The Senior Medical Writer plays a crucial role in creating high-quality scientific content for healthcare professionals and internal client audiences. This involves writing original content for publication activities, analyzing and interpreting clinical data, and demonstrating expertise in assigned therapeutic areas. This will involve working closely with cross-functional teams, including therapeutic area experts, clinicians, and other stakeholders. The Senior Medical Writer will report to a senior manager and will be part of a team that is dedicated to delivering exceptional results. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with excellent writing and analytical skills, a strong understanding of scientific principles, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
What You Will Do
- Write original content for publication activities, including primary and review manuscripts, abstracts, and posters
- Develop slide presentations, meeting summaries, and other materials for healthcare professionals and internal audiences
- Analyze and interpret clinical data to produce high-quality scientific communications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scientific content that meets the needs of healthcare professionals and internal clients
- Demonstrate expertise in assigned therapeutic areas and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in these areas
- Prepare materials according to internal writing guidelines and other applicable guidelines
- Follow all internal processes and procedures with regard to workflow, development of deliverables, and adherence to industry best practices
- Lead author teleconferences and participate in brainstorming sessions and strategic publications planning meetings
- Attend advisory boards, roundtables, and other meetings to record and synthesize information into formal reports
- Assist in the development of new business presentations by researching, analyzing, and synthesizing pharmacologic attributes, existing clinical data, and market research
What We Are Looking For
- PhD or PharmD in a relevant field, such as medicine, pharmacy, or a life science
- At least 5 years of experience in medical writing or a related field
- Excellent writing and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly and accurately
- Strong understanding of scientific principles and the ability to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in assigned therapeutic areas
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience with industry best practices and guidelines, including GPP3
Nice to Have
- Experience with other therapeutic areas, such as oncology or cardiology
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines, such as FDA regulations
- Experience with project management tools and software
- Certification in medical writing or a related field
