What You Will Do

• Plan and execute large-group projects from ideation to production, ensuring seamless integration of technical and product strategies.
• Mentor a distributed team of engineers, providing subject matter expertise and identifying opportunities for growth and development.
• Develop and implement solutions using Large Language Models, addressing the most critical challenges faced by customers.
• Collaborate closely with product teams to design and deliver innovative products that leverage AI capabilities.
• Engage in strategic partnerships and collaborations to advance Cohere's mission and expand its impact.
• Assist in the preparation of patents for developed IP, protecting and promoting the company's technological advancements.
• Participate in cross-discipline teams to drive innovation and solve complex problems.
• Provide technical direction to build new or refine existing products, staying abreast of the latest advancements in AI and machine learning.
• Work closely with legal teams to ensure compliance and protection of intellectual property.
• Contribute to the development of the company's technical strategy, applying your expertise to drive growth and innovation.

What We Are Looking For

• Prior experience in leading ML teams in applied research and production, with a proven track record of delivering impactful projects.
• Experience in setting and executing technical direction, with the ability to build and refine existing products.
• Strong background in working cross-discipline in matrixed organizations, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in Python and related ML frameworks such as Tensorflow, TF-Serving, JAX, and XLA/MLIR.
• Experience with large-scale distributed training and inference, with the ability to optimize models for performance and efficiency.
• Strong mentorship skills, with the ability to guide and develop junior engineers.
• A demonstrated passion for applied ML models and products, with a keen interest in staying updated on the latest advancements in AI.
• Working proficiency in Arabic, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and partners in the Middle East.
• Bonus: Experience working for B2B companies in the ML space, with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities in this sector.
