About the Role

The Senior Network Inventory GIS Engineer will play a pivotal role in managing medium to large network GIS inventory projects, developing network inventory features, and creating geospatial data. What You Will Do

  • Manage medium to large network GIS inventory projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Develop and maintain network inventory features that align with business objectives, enhancing the overall efficiency of network operations.
  • Create and analyze geospatial data to inform network planning decisions, working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Support the evolution of Lumen's GIS planning platform, enhancing its capabilities and user experience.
  • Translate complex network data into intuitive, map-based visualizations, facilitating better decision-making across the organization.
  • Collaborate with the GIS team to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of GIS projects, including methodologies, data sources, and outcomes.
  • Conduct spatial analysis and network analysis to optimize network performance and capacity planning.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and develop tailored GIS solutions that meet those needs.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of new data pipelines for GIS data structures, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, or a related field, with a strong foundation in GIS concepts and technologies.
  • At least 4 years of experience in GIS engineering, analysis, or network inventory, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects.
  • Basic Alteryx experience, with the ability to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
  • Strong understanding of GIS concepts, including spatial analysis, network analysis, and data visualization.
  • Experience with GIS analysis, including the use of tools like 3GIS, GE Smallworld, and OSPI.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and its applications in network planning and design.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, particularly in Excel, with the ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to analyzing and resolving complex issues.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and as part of a distributed team.
