Job Description
About the Role
As a Senior Offshore Wind Technician at GE Vernova, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of wind turbines, ensuring they operate efficiently and effectively. This role is crucial in supporting the growth of renewable energy and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. You will work closely with site leadership to execute daily activities, perform maintenance and repairs, and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include working with electrical and mechanical equipment, performing diagnostic analysis, and documenting all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures. You will also be required to work with GE's remote operations center when necessary and respond to their requests.
What You Will Do
- Perform maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions in wind turbines
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch and variable speed turbines
- Work with site leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements
- Help in all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
- Perform diagnostic electrical analysis and document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures
- Work with and respond to GE's remote operations center when necessary
- Handle repetitive weight of up to 50 lbs and climb towers up to 300 feet daily
- Meet specified manufacturer weight limits, not to exceed 300lbs including required gear
- Understand electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
What We Are Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Wind Technician
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience troubleshooting inclusive of hydraulic, electrical, and experience using basic power hydraulic tools
- Basic computer skills
- Past leadership of field teams
- Ability to work in a range of environments, including industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities
- Ability and willingness to work in a team environment and take initiative
- Experience using hydraulic power tools and heavy equipment required for facility maintenance
Nice to Have
- Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field
- Wind turbine experience
- Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
- Experience with crane and rigging requirements
