About the Role
As a Senior Partner Engineer at Affirm, you will play a crucial role in driving technical strategy and solutions with key partners, such as Shopify and Stripe. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve providing technical leadership across commercial and product partnership teams, supporting large cross-functional programs, and collaborating with engineering teams to design and implement innovative solutions.The Merchant and Platform Engineering team is dedicated to helping merchants and partners acquire and retain valued customers through industry-leading Buy Now Pay Later POS checkout experiences. As a senior member of this team, you will be responsible for representing Affirm's engineering team and technologies to partners, driving technical and business strategy, and contributing to the company's mission to deliver honest financial products.
What You Will Do
- Develop detailed project plans, including solution design, timeline estimation, task breakdown, and testing plans
- Provide day-to-day support for technical questions from external partner stakeholders
- Develop integration support materials and documentation for new products, rollouts, and features
- Serve as an overarching Subject Matter Expert (SME) and point of escalation for internal and external teams facing technical challenges
- Make recommendations on integration strategy, platform evolution, infrastructure, and tooling selection to optimize user experience
- Explore the business intersection between commercial strategy and technical partnership capabilities
- Contribute to the internal development of pertinent external documentation to strengthen the overall partnership experience
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and improve partner satisfaction
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in partner solutions
What We Are Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in a Solutions Engineering, Partner Engineering, Sales Engineering, Technical Account Management, Solutions Architecture, or any other customer-facing engineering role
- Ability to read and understand multiple programming languages
- Experience with Ecommerce technologies and data models
- Experience and understanding of JSON, HTML, REST API, and Webhook technologies
- Familiarity with integrating UX elements with backend services, frameworks, and 3rd party developer APIs
- Experience with alerting and monitoring tools and applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong project management skills, and the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
- Passion and drive to change consumer banking for the better
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have
- Experience and understanding of various Partner Types (e.g., Ecommerce Platforms, Payment Processors, Payment Gateways, and Wallets)
- Knowledge of cloud-based technologies and experience with cloud-based platforms
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools
