Senior Performance Test Engineer (Appian)

What You Will Do

• Execute performance testing strategies for Appian applications to ensure they meet defined performance and throughput requirements.
• Validate system scalability and reliability, identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure that performance testing aligns with business objectives.
• Design, develop, and execute performance test plans, scripts, and scenarios, including the analysis of results and reporting.
• Utilize performance testing tools such as JMeter and Groovy to simulate various load conditions and analyze system performance under stress.
• Proficiently analyze performance data, identifying root causes of performance issues across application, database, and infrastructure layers.
• Write SQL queries and stored procedures to support performance testing and data analysis.
• Gather throughput and SLA requirements from business stakeholders and ensure these are integrated into performance testing plans.
• Analyze Appian logs and system information to diagnose performance issues, providing detailed reports and recommendations for improvement.
• Mentor or advise junior performance engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team capabilities.
• Support performance efforts in structured or regulated environments, applying knowledge of security clearance procedures and federal regulations.

What We Are Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in performance testing within complex enterprise environments.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience performance testing Appian applications.
• 3+ years of experience in a technical consulting or client-facing role.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and executing performance test plans, scripts, and scenarios.
• Proficiency with performance testing tools such as JMeter and Groovy.
• Strong understanding of performance metrics, including response time, throughput, concurrency, and resource utilization.
• Experience analyzing performance data and identifying root causes across different layers.
• Proficiency in writing SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Demonstrated knowledge of data objects and data architecture.
• Experience gathering requirements from business stakeholders and analyzing Appian logs for performance issues.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience supporting performance efforts in regulated environments, with federal experience being a plus.

Nice to Have

• Certification in performance testing or a related field.
• Experience with cloud-based performance testing tools and platforms.
• Knowledge of agile methodologies and version control systems like Git.
• Experience with data analytics tools for deeper insights into performance data.
