The Senior Principal, Technical Program Management role at Twilio is a senior leadership position that oversees the development and execution of strategic technical programs within the Research & Development (R&D) department. The Senior Principal, Technical Program Management role reports to the Senior Vice President of R&D and will work closely with lead engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to drive technical innovation and strategy.What You Will Do
- Develop and execute multi-year technical roadmaps for high-impact programs that drive business growth and innovation
- Manage systemic complexity and high-stakes risk, serving as the primary technical point of contact for executive leadership
- Architect end-to-end execution frameworks, including global sequencing logic, multi-tier governance, and enterprise-grade operational success metrics
- Partner with lead engineers and architects to evaluate technical approaches and drive technical innovation
- Orchestrate cross-portfolio alignment, identifying and resolving structural misalignment between engineering roadmaps
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including executive leadership, engineers, and architects
- Drive technical debt retirement and long-term platform health, ensuring sustainable delivery engines
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, developing contingency plans to ensure program success
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes and growth
What We Are Looking For
- 10+ years of experience in technical program management, with a focus on R&D and technical innovation
- Strong technical expertise in software development, with experience in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
- Strong understanding of technical debt retirement and long-term platform health
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience driving technical innovation and growth
- Experience with data analysis and reporting, with skills in tools such as Excel or Tableau
- Strong problem-solving skills, with experience identifying and resolving technical issues
