About the Role
The Senior Privacy Program Manager role at Mercury is a critical position that requires a deep understanding of privacy laws and regulations. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive privacy procedures and controls. Your day-to-day will involve working closely with various teams, including product, engineering, and marketing, to ensure that privacy is embedded in every aspect of the company's operations.The role is highly visible, and you will be expected to provide guidance and training to non-technical teams on privacy best practices. Your ability to communicate complex concepts in plain language will be essential in this position. You will also be responsible for staying up-to-date with the latest developments in privacy laws and regulations, and for ensuring that Mercury's practices are compliant with these requirements.

What You Will Do
- Develop and update comprehensive privacy procedures and controls
- Stay abreast of privacy laws and regulations to ensure organizational compliance
- Evaluate and manage privacy risks associated with third-party vendors
- Manage data subject rights processes, including DSARs, deletion requests, and opt-outs
- Develop training, documentation, and awareness programs to make privacy intuitive for non-specialists across the company
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that privacy is embedded in product development and engineering practices
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure that Mercury's privacy practices are compliant with regulatory requirements
- Provide guidance and support to teams on privacy-related issues
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators and industry partners
What We Are Looking For
- Deep understanding of privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant frameworks
- Experience building or significantly improving privacy infrastructure, including data inventories, PIA frameworks, and vendor review processes
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to run multiple workstreams and get cross-functional buy-in without formal authority
- Clear and direct communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in plain language
- Experience working in a fast-paced, tech-forward environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate and manage privacy risks
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and marketing

- Experience with privacy certifications, such as CIPP or CIPM
- Knowledge of emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning
- Experience working in a fintech or financial services company
