About the Role
The Senior Product Counsel position at Solutus Legal Search is a unique opportunity for a legal expert to join a mission-driven, fast-growing private cloud company. This role is pivotal in supporting the product and engineering teams with legal expertise across the product lifecycle, from conceptualization to launch. What You Will Do
- Advise product and engineering teams on legal matters related to product development, including AI/ML, data privacy, and open-source licensing.
- Develop and implement compliance programs to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements such as GDPR and CCPA.
- Conduct legal reviews of product features and documentation to mitigate legal risks.
- Collaborate with the sales team to address customer legal inquiries and negotiate contracts.
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees on legal and compliance matters.
- Participate in the development of company policies and procedures related to product and privacy.
- Manage external counsel and vendors as needed.
- Stay updated on legal and regulatory developments that impact the company's products and services.
- Participate in industry conferences and events to stay current on best practices and network with peers.
What We Are Looking For
- A law degree from an accredited institution.
- Admission to practice in at least one U.S. state.
- 4-8 years of experience practicing law in a combination of Big Law and in-house at a tech company.
- Strong product counseling experience, with a focus on tech products.
- Excellent understanding of AI/ML issues, data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA), open-source licensing, and IP.
- Strong judgment and ability to make sound legal decisions.
- Business-oriented mindset with the ability to understand the company's goals and objectives.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Excel and other productivity tools.
