Job Description

About the Role

As a Senior Product Designer, AI at Lattice, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and shipping a reimagined way of capturing work and growth, aligned with your manager and the business. This role is part of a new, experimental team at Lattice that is making a different bet about AI, figuring out what it looks like when truly built into how managers, employees, and HR leaders do their best work. The team spans Brand Design, Product Design, and Research, working closely with cross-functional partners to ensure holistic thinking and high-quality experiences for customers.

Day-to-day, you will work side-by-side with Product, Engineering, Data, and customers to land experiences that are loveable, measurable, and scalable. You will partner with engineering to craft and fine-tune the AI outputs themselves so they align with the ideal user experience. Because AI is deeply embedded across Lattice, you will build a strong understanding of the entire product suite and collaborate with designers across teams to make sure AI strengthens, not fragments, the jobs customers are already getting done.

Given the evolving nature of product design in an AI-native world, you should be extremely comfortable with ambiguity and be a demonstrated self-starter. The ability to prototype in code, push pixels in design, and write documentation that aligns the room will be crucial in driving success in this role.

What You Will Do

  • Design and prototype new features and interfaces that integrate AI seamlessly into the user experience, focusing on capturing work and growth in a reimagined way.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, and Data, to ensure cohesive and high-quality experiences for customers.
  • Partner with engineering to fine-tune AI outputs, aligning them with the ideal user experience and contributing to the development of a cohesive system for AI experiences across the product.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their needs and preferences, ensuring that design decisions are data-driven and customer-centric.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the Lattice product suite, identifying areas where AI can enhance the user experience without fragmenting existing workflows.
  • Contribute to the design of external tools and surfaces that integrate with Lattice, ensuring a consistent and loveable experience across all touchpoints.
  • Lead design decisions and guide the design process, leveraging expertise in AI design to drive innovation and excellence.
  • Collaborate with the research team to stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in AI and product design, applying this knowledge to continuously improve the design process and outcomes.
  • Participate in the development of design guidelines and standards for AI-native products, ensuring consistency and quality across all designs.
  • Mentor and support junior designers, sharing knowledge and expertise to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within the design team.

What We Are Looking For

  • 3 to 5+ years of product design experience, with a focus on AI-native products and user experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an ambiguous, rapidly evolving environment, with a strong capacity for self-directed learning and adaptation.
  • Portfolio that showcases AI design skills, including case studies of AI work that goes beyond screens, such as shaping AI output, quality, tone, formatting, and edge cases.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, human-centered design, and the ability to apply these principles in the context of AI-native products.
  • Experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Cloud, and proficiency in front-end development technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and data science.
  • Passion for designing loveable, measurable, and scalable experiences, with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes that meet customer needs.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with machine learning or natural language processing technologies, and their application in product design.
  • Knowledge of design systems and the ability to contribute to the development of design guidelines and standards for AI-native products.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git.
  • Certification in design or a related field, such as UX design, interaction design, or human-computer interaction.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive salary and equity package, reflecting the company's commitment to attracting and retaining top talent in the industry.
  • Flexible, remote work arrangements, allowing for a healthy work-life balance and the freedom to work from anywhere.
  • Comprehensive health insurance package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, to support the well-being of employees and their families.
  • Generous PTO policy, providing ample opportunity for rest, relaxation, and professional development.
  • Access to cutting-edge design tools and technologies, ensuring that designers have the resources they need to deliver innovative, high-quality designs.
  • Professional development opportunities, including training, mentorship, and conference sponsorships, to support ongoing learning and growth.

How to Stand Out

  • Showcase a strong portfolio that demonstrates AI design skills, including case studies that highlight your ability to shape AI output and integrate it seamlessly into the user experience.
  • Be prepared to discuss your experience working in ambiguous, rapidly evolving environments, and how you adapt to change and drive design decisions in such contexts.
  • Highlight your ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and data science, and provide examples of successful partnerships in previous roles.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of design principles and human-centered design, and explain how you apply these principles in the context of AI-native products.
  • Research Lattice's products and services, and be prepared to discuss how your skills and experience align with the company's mission and goals.
  • Practice your communication skills, as the ability to articulate design decisions and trade-offs will be crucial in the interview process.
