## About the Role As a Senior Product Designer – Mobile at Mercury, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mobile banking experiences for entrepreneurs and founders. Your primary focus will be on leading the design of major mobile initiatives, from conceptualization through launch and iteration. You will work closely with a cross-functional team of product managers, engineers, and another senior designer to push the boundaries of what banking should feel like on mobile devices.
The role of a Senior Product Designer at Mercury is unique because it involves not just designing features, but defining the holistic future of the mobile experience. You will have the autonomy to explore ambitious ideas, turn them into real products, and see the impact of your work used by real businesses immediately. Your work will directly influence how Mercury's native iOS and Android experiences evolve, making this an opportunity to leave a lasting mark on the fintech industry.
Mercury is building banking solutions for builders, entrepreneurs who are often on the go and need to manage their businesses from anywhere. The company is rethinking what financial tools can feel like when designed with real people in mind: fast, expressive, and thoughtfully crafted from the ground up. As part of this mission, you will contribute to creating products that simplify complex financial workflows into intuitive interactions.
## What You Will Do - Lead design for major mobile initiatives from concept through launch and iteration, ensuring alignment with Mercury's overall product vision.
- Shape the vision for Mercury’s native iOS and Android experiences, considering the needs of entrepreneurs and founders on the go.
- Turn complex financial workflows into simple, intuitive interactions that enhance the user experience.
- Work closely with product managers to decide what to build and why, ensuring that design solutions meet business objectives.
- Prototype ideas quickly to explore direction, test assumptions, and refine details, using your expertise to inform product decisions.
- Design polished, production-ready interfaces with exceptional craft and precision, paying attention to the smallest details.
- Contribute to Mercury's design systems and help evolve patterns across platforms, ensuring consistency and cohesion in the product suite.
- Raise the quality bar for interaction, visual design, and product thinking across the team, mentoring and guiding junior designers.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure that design concepts are feasible and meet technical requirements, facilitating a smooth handoff process.
- Strong visual and interaction design skills, with a sharp eye for detail and an understanding of what makes an exceptional user experience.
- Experience designing complex systems, not just individual screens, with the ability to think holistically about product design.
- Ability to work through ambiguity and drive projects forward independently, using your judgment and expertise to guide decision-making.
- Clear communicator who can articulate design decisions and influence product direction, with the ability to present your work and design rationale to various stakeholders.
- Experience designing native mobile apps (iOS and/or Android), with a deep understanding of platform-specific design patterns and guidelines.
- Thoughtful collaborator who makes teammates better, with a willingness to give and receive feedback and to continuously learn and improve.
- Knowledge of front-end development principles and how they impact design decisions.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and how they apply to design workflows.
- Participation in design communities or contributing to design-related open-source projects.
- Equity (stock options/RSUs) that gives you a stake in Mercury's success and future growth.
- Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
- Flexible and remote work arrangements, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States or Canada.
- Opportunities for professional growth and development, including training programs, workshops, and conferences.
- Access to the latest design tools and technologies, ensuring you have what you need to excel in your role.
