About the Role
The Senior Product Designer role at Partly is a unique opportunity to own the experience for a complex product area. As a key member of the design team, you will be responsible for translating powerful but complex technology into experiences that feel simple, intuitive, and human. Your focus will be on designing workflows, catalogues, and user experiences that professionals trust and rely on, across wildly different market contexts.The design challenge at Partly is significant, with a focus on creating experiences that are both functional and user-friendly. You will be working closely with your PM and engineering counterparts to ensure that the design solutions you create meet the needs of the business and the users.
As a senior product designer, you will be expected to bring a strong point of view to the design process, while also being open to feedback and collaboration. Your ability to communicate complex design concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be essential to your success in this role.
What You Will Do
- Define the experience for a complex product area, including parts cataloguing, search and discovery, buyer workflows, and marketplace experiences
- Design intuitive and human-centered experiences that meet the needs of professionals in the replacement parts industry
- Collaborate with your PM and engineering counterparts to ensure that design solutions meet the needs of the business and the users
- Develop prototypes and high-fidelity designs that hold up in production, not just in Figma
- Make hard trade-offs between speed, quality, and technical feasibility
- Contribute to the design system and shared patterns to ensure that your best experience decisions scale beyond your own product area
- Give direct, specific feedback in critique to help other designers, PMs, and engineers work better
- Work closely with your PM and engineering counterparts in a fast-moving environment where shipping fast matters
- Understand the codebase and data model well enough to know what's possible, and advocate for the experience that matters most within those constraints
- Design search and discovery experiences where a wrong match has real consequences
- Bring a strong point of view on what the experience should be to your PM and engineering lead
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in product design, with a focus on creating complex and intuitive user experiences
- Strong product and business judgment, with the ability to reason from first principles
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to design intuitive and human-centered experiences that meet the needs of professionals in the replacement parts industry
- Strong understanding of design principles, including user experience, interaction design, and visual design
- Experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
- Ability to develop prototypes and high-fidelity designs that hold up in production
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to make hard trade-offs between speed, quality, and technical feasibility
- Experience with design systems and shared patterns, with the ability to contribute to the design system and ensure that your best experience decisions scale beyond your own product area
Nice to Have
- Experience with Excel, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and make informed design decisions
- Experience with design for complex systems, including replacement parts industry
- Knowledge of front-end development principles, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience with agile development methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban
- Certification in design, including UX design or product design
