Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Product Manager - Mission Control will play a pivotal role in Mercury's internal operations, overseeing the development and execution of the company's core platform. This platform is the backbone of Mercury's operations, providing essential tooling for teams across the organization, including payment operations, banking engineers, customer support, compliance, and risk management. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to build the next generation of this platform from the ground up, leveraging AI to drive efficiency and excellence.

The role entails working closely with various stakeholders to understand their needs, define product roadmaps, and ensure the successful execution of these plans. Given the critical nature of the platform, the Senior Product Manager must have a deep understanding of the fintech industry, the ability to navigate complex technical systems, and a strong design sensibility. The position requires an individual who can champion Mercury's quality and design standards, ensuring that internal-facing tools are not only functional but also user-friendly and visually appealing.

What You Will Do

  • Own the Mission Control roadmap, defining and driving the strategy and execution plan to meet Mercury's growth and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop deep empathy for operators who rely on Mission Control daily, translating their workflows into efficient and elegant tooling.
  • Set a high quality bar for internal products, championing Mercury's design and quality standards.
  • Leverage AI to ship and scale, identifying opportunities for AI-powered features and intelligent automation.
  • Define controls and safety measures, including role-based access controls, separation of duties workflows, and audit logging.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment with engineering, design, compliance, risk, and operations teams to prioritize and ship outcomes.
  • Conduct market research and analyze user feedback to inform product decisions.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure the feasibility of product plans and to resolve technical issues.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Mercury's business goals and objectives, ensuring product development aligns with these.

What We Are Looking For

  • 7+ years of product management experience, ideally in fintech or building operator-facing or internal platforms.
  • A track record of shipping high-quality internal tools, admin experiences, or operator platforms.
  • Deep empathy for internal users and the ability to understand their workflows and challenges.
  • Genuine excitement about AI as a product tool, with experience in integrating AI solutions.
  • Comfort navigating technical complexity, with the ability to engage with engineers on systems, data flows, access control, and audit requirements.
  • A strong design sensibility that extends beyond consumer products, with an understanding of user experience principles.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across diverse stakeholders and levels of seniority.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other productivity tools.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with fintech or banking operations, including knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Certification in product management or a related field.
  • Experience with AI and machine learning technologies, particularly in application to operator tooling.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based technologies and SaaS platforms.
  • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive base salary and equity package.
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits.
  • Flexible PTO policy and remote work stipend.
  • Professional development opportunities, including training and conference sponsorships.
  • Access to cutting-edge technologies and tools.
  • Collaborative and dynamic work environment with a team of experienced professionals.
  • Opportunity to work on a high-impact project that affects nearly every team at Mercury.

How to Stand Out

  • Ensure your portfolio highlights your experience in product management, particularly in fintech or related industries.
  • Develop a strong understanding of AI and its applications in operator tooling to stand out in interviews.
  • Prepare examples of how you've driven cross-functional alignment and shipped high-quality internal tools in previous roles.
  • Be ready to discuss your approach to integrating AI solutions and your vision for the future of operator platforms.
  • Highlight your ability to work in a fast-paced, remote environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Research Mercury's specific business goals and objectives to understand how your role contributes to the company's success.
