Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Product Manager, Mobile Apps role at Wikimedia is a 6-month contract position that plays a critical part in the organization's Product department. This team is responsible for building wiki experiences that enable communities to achieve Wikimedia's vision of a world where every human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. The Mobile Apps team, in particular, focuses on creating fast and fun ways to read Wikipedia through ad-free apps available in over 300 languages.

As a Senior Product Manager, you will work closely with engineers, designers, community members, and other product managers to deliver on the reader strategy, with a focus on improving the experience of committed app users. This role will report to the Lead Product Manager, Mobile Apps, and requires availability for critical meetings and synchronous work between 14:00-19:00 UTC.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the product development process to refine, develop, and deliver features that deepen app retention, support the Active→Contributor funnel, and sustain app donors, within the guardrails of OKRs and strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with fellow apps product managers to stay aligned on higher-level strategic priorities, identify, and execute the direction of the apps team.
  • Work with other apps product managers to discover and define new opportunities to set future Key Results.
  • Produce and update community-facing documentation.
  • Set priorities for a cross-functional product team including a designer, engineering manager, software engineers, QA engineer, data analyst, and community relations specialist.
  • Experiment, release, and iterate intentionally to provide incremental value rapidly and validate hypotheses.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative methods to evaluate impact.
  • Lead the team in making data-driven decisions and drive the product roadmap forward.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager.
  • 3+ years of experience managing user-facing products in a mobile-first environment, working on Android or iOS applications.
  • Demonstrated success in launching new features in large-scale consumer apps.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Success in making decisions in fast-changing and ambiguous situations.
  • Experience working in an agile or iterative software development environment.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Ability to clearly communicate plans and results to stakeholders and collaborators verbally and in written form.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant work experience.
