About the Role

The Senior Property Accountant position is a critical component of our client's financial operations, focusing on the management of a portfolio of real estate assets. This role requires a seasoned professional who can work independently, managing all aspects of property accounting with precision and timeliness. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that supports a fast-growing asset portfolio, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Day-to-day, the Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting of assigned properties, including preparing and posting journal entries, maintaining accurate general ledgers, and performing month-end and year-end close processes. This role involves working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure seamless financial operations and to support the growth of the asset portfolio.

What You Will Do

  • Own full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of approximately four properties, with potential for additional assets
  • Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate financial records
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledgers for all assigned properties
  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes for each property, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements
  • Produce complete and timely financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for each asset
  • Reconcile bank accounts and property-level accounts on a regular basis to ensure financial integrity
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records within Yardi Breeze or similar property management accounting systems
  • Collaborate with internal team members and external partners as necessary to support financial operations and asset growth
  • Support the scalability of accounting operations as new assets are acquired
  • Participate in special projects and undertake other tasks as assigned by management

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in real estate or property accounting, with a proven track record of managing multiple properties or assets
  • Strong hands-on experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Experience using Yardi Breeze or similar property management accounting systems
  • Highly independent and self-motivated, with the ability to work with minimal oversight
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accountability
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a growing, fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Excel, with the ability to analyze and manage complex financial data
