About the Role

The Senior Property Large Loss Specialist plays a crucial role in Encova Insurance's Property Claims team, handling complex and high-exposure property claims. This home-based role offers flexibility and the opportunity to work on a wide range of claims, from residential to commercial. The successful candidate will have a strong background in claims processing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently. As a key member of the team, the Senior Property Large Loss Specialist will be responsible for mentoring and guiding entry-level large loss specialists, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to handle complex claims. The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure. The Property Claims team at Encova Insurance is committed to delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring that all claims are handled efficiently and effectively. The team works closely with other departments to ensure that customers receive the best possible service and that claims are resolved quickly and fairly.

What You Will Do

  • Independently handle large property losses, including structure, contents, and business income losses
  • Inspect and write large property estimates, including total losses, using estimating guides and software
  • Participate in catastrophe claims handling and travel to loss locations as required
  • Mentor and guide entry-level large loss specialists
  • Comply with Encova's claims organization policies and procedures
  • Regularly review and update claims processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that customers receive the best possible service
  • Attend seminars, conferences, and workshops to stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents and customers
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to improve skills and knowledge

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in property claims handling, with a focus on large loss claims
  • Strong knowledge of property insurance policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and claims processing software
  • Ability to travel to loss locations, often with little notice
