About the Role
LawnStarter is the nation's leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and outdoor services, operating across three brands on a single shared platform. As the company expands its service verticals and grows its engineering team, the need for proactive quality management has never been more pressing. The Senior Quality Engineer will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's quality process, working closely with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks, and ensuring that automation coverage and bug processes are scalable and efficient.The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong technical background, able to design and grow the company's automated test coverage, and collaborate with product, design, and data teams to surface risks and propose better solutions. This is a hands-on, strategic role that requires a deep understanding of software development, quality management, and team collaboration.
What You Will Do
- Own the strategy for building and expanding automated test coverage using Cypress
- Set the strategy, prioritize coverage gaps, and raise the floor across the platform
- Manage the full lifecycle of bug process, from triage to production fix
- Collaborate with PMs, Designers, and the Data team to review requirements, raise risks early, and define what 'done' actually means
- Identify weaknesses in software delivery and propose solutions
- Perform exploratory testing on new features and existing flows on web and mobile across devices
- Participate in code reviews and ensure that quality is integrated into the development process
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in software testing and quality management
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in software testing and quality management
- Strong technical background in software development, with expertise in PHP (Laravel) and React/React Native
- Experience with Cypress and automated testing frameworks
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and propose effective solutions
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and quality management principles
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-powered testing tools and technologies
- Knowledge of Claude Code and its application in software development
- Experience with cloud-based testing platforms and infrastructure
- Certification in software testing and quality management, such as ISTQB or CSTE
