About the Role
As a Senior Quality Engineer at LawnStarter, you will play a crucial role in driving proactive quality across the organization. With the company's rapid expansion into new service verticals, it's essential to have a solid foundation in place to ensure the highest quality of service. You will be responsible for owning the automation coverage, shaping the bug process, and partnering closely with cross-functional teams to catch problems before they reach customers.LawnStarter has spent the last two years rebuilding its platform from the ground up, with a new customer app, Pro onboarding, job distribution engine, and data infrastructure. The foundation is solid, but now it's time to take it to the next level. The company is looking for a skilled Quality Engineer to help raise the quality ceiling for the entire team.
You will report to the Engineering Manager and be embedded across the engineering organization. This is a hands-on and strategic role that requires a deep understanding of the company's services and technology stack.
What You Will Do
- Design and grow the company's E2E and integration test suite using Cypress
- Set the strategy for building and expanding automated test coverage
- Prioritize coverage gaps and raise the floor across the platform
- Own the full lifecycle of bug triage to production fix
- Collaborate with PMs, Designers, and the Data team to review requirements and define what 'done' means
- Identify weaknesses in software delivery and propose solutions
- Perform exploratory testing on new features and existing flows
- Work directly with engineers, PMs, Designers, and the Data team to surface risks early and propose better solutions
- Embed with one or two delivery teams to drive quality and improve processes
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve quality operations
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering
- Strong knowledge of automated testing frameworks, particularly Cypress
- Experience with PHP (Laravel) and React/React Native
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Knowledge of AI-powered testing tools and technologies
- Familiarity with Claude Code and its applications in engineering workflows
Nice to Have
- Experience with containerization using Docker
- Knowledge of cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Google Cloud
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git
- Certification in software quality engineering or a related field
