Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor role at Turner & Townsend is a critical position that requires a high degree of expertise in cost management, commercial negotiations, and leadership. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering value-added cost management services to clients, working closely with stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will be the primary day-to-day client interface, ensuring that objectives are met and service excellence is delivered.

The role involves working on a large, multi-phase data center construction program, with a focus on developing and implementing effective cost management strategies. You will be working closely with design teams, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to coordinate cost data, validate costs, and ensure that all commercial documentation is accurate and timely.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be expected to provide leadership and direction to junior team members, mentoring and coaching them to develop their skills and expertise. You will also be responsible for promoting a high-performance, one-business culture across the team, ensuring that all team members are working towards the same goals and objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Develop detailed cost plans and estimates for large-scale construction projects
  • Produce and present monthly cost reports, executive summaries, and funding information
  • Coordinate cost data from design teams, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Compile built cost records to support benchmarking and continuous improvement
  • Review contractor and subcontractor pricing and lead commercial negotiations
  • Lead the review, estimation, negotiation, and reconciliation of change orders
  • Manage post-contract cost variances, change control processes, and contingency tracking
  • Support cost risk analysis, scenario planning, and cost-impact assessments
  • Ensure cost, schedule, and scope integration in coordination with project controls teams
  • Contribute to procurement strategy development and scope alignment
  • Participate in contractor pricing reviews and support the client through commercial negotiations
  • Ensure timely agreement of final accounts and maintain a robust process for cost auditing and validation

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5-7+ years of relevant experience in construction cost management
  • Strong understanding of cost planning, procurement routes, commercial management, value management, and value engineering
  • Data center construction experience or experience in mission-critical, high-tech, industrial, semiconductor, or other large-scale technical facilities
  • Construction consulting experience
  • RICS accreditation or progress toward certification
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting
  • Strong financial management skills, including margin tracking and monthly fee/resource forecasting

  • Experience working with Excel and other cost management software
  • Knowledge of SOX control responsibilities and experience working in a compliance-driven environment
  • Experience working on large, multi-phase construction projects
  • Certification in a related field, such as construction management or quantity surveying
