About the Role

The Senior Sales Engineer role at Fivetran is a critical position that bridges the gap between the company's cutting-edge data replication solutions and the complex needs of its enterprise customers. Day-to-day, the Senior Sales Engineer will engage in a variety of activities, from developing and delivering technical presentations to running proof-of-value processes, ensuring that the technical win is secured. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Post-Sales Services, Support, and Engineering, to align Fivetran's solutions with the evolving requirements of its enterprise customers. Given the nature of the role, the ability to travel (up to 20% of the time) and work effectively in a remote setting is essential.

What You Will Do

  • Work closely with the sales team to understand the complex business needs of enterprise customers and identify how Fivetran's data replication solutions can meet those needs.
  • Develop and deliver functional and technical presentations to enterprise audiences, tailored to their specific requirements and use cases.
  • Ensure the technical win by running a tight proof-of-value process, demonstrating the capability and value of Fivetran's solutions.
  • Collaborate with Fivetran's Product, Post-Sales Services, Support, and Engineering teams to ensure alignment of solutions with customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key enterprise customers and partners, providing ongoing technical support and guidance.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and trends in the data technology sector, applying this knowledge to improve sales strategies and customer engagements.
  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities, leveraging technical expertise and market knowledge to drive growth.
  • Provide input to the product roadmap, based on customer feedback and market insights, to help shape the future of Fivetran's offerings.
  • Participate in sales strategy sessions, contributing technical insights to develop effective sales approaches for complex deals.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain and enhance technical skills, particularly in areas related to data replication, cloud data warehouses, and relational database management systems.

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience selling IT services or products in an enterprise or similarly complex environment.
  • Working knowledge of at least one relational database management system (RDBMS), such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2, or Sybase.
  • Experience interacting with databases, including basic troubleshooting, knowledge of logging/archiving, or basic installation/administration.
  • Working knowledge of at least one cloud data warehouse platform (CDW).
  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with Post-Sales Services, Support, and Engineering teams to align solutions with enterprise customer requirements.
  • Strong technical and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with tools like Excel for data analysis and presentation.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for customer engagements and internal meetings.
  • Strong understanding of the data technology landscape, including current trends and future directions.

  • Experience with data replication solutions and their application in enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or R.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Grafana.
