About the Role
As a Senior Sales Engineer at Datadog, you will be at the forefront of technical sales, driving growth and adoption of Datadog's innovative solutions. Your expertise will be crucial in articulating the value proposition of Datadog's products to potential clients, showcasing your ability to communicate both the business benefits and technical advantages of the offerings. This role is pivotal in a hybrid workplace environment that values collaboration, creativity, and work-life harmony.In this capacity, you will partner closely with the sales team, leveraging your technical expertise to qualify and close complex opportunities. Your day-to-day will involve delivering product and technical briefings, conducting product demonstrations, and supporting technical evaluations. Your input will be invaluable in helping prioritize features based on customer, competitor, and partner feedback.
The role requires a deep understanding of the technical landscape, including proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.JS, PHP, and .NET. Your experience in sales engineering or DevOps engineering will be instrumental in navigating the complexities of technical sales and in building and executing evaluation plans with customers.
What You Will Do
- Partner with the sales team to articulate the overall Datadog value proposition, vision, and strategy to customers.
- Own technical engagement with customers during the trial phase, communicating Datadog’s value based on activities and working with customers on any identified issues or concerns to successful conclusion.
- Technically close complex opportunities through advanced competitive knowledge, technical skill, and credibility.
- Deliver product and technical briefings/presentations to potential clients.
- Maintain accurate notes and feedback in CRM regarding customer input, both wins and losses.
- Proactively engage and communicate with customers and Datadog business/technical teams regarding product feedback and competitive landscape.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify and develop new sales opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Datadog's products and services.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitor activity.
What We Are Looking For
- Passion for educating customers on observability risks that are meaningful to their business.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to understand and articulate both the business benefits and technical advantages of Datadog's offerings.
- Experience in programming/scripting with languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.JS, PHP, and .NET.
- Minimum of 3+ years in a Sales Engineering or DevOps Engineering role.
- Ability to travel up to 45% of the time, including auto, train, or air travel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to sit up to 4 hours and travel to and from client sites.
Nice to Have
- Experience with CRM software andSalesforce.com.
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Certification in sales engineering or a related field.
- Familiarity with Datadog's products and services.
