About the Role

The Senior Sales Engineer position at Datadog is a critical role that combines technical expertise with sales acumen to drive business growth. As a Senior Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and support to the sales team, helping to qualify and close opportunities with customers and partners. What You Will Do

  • Partner with the Sales team to articulate the overall Datadog value proposition, vision, and strategy to customers.
  • Own technical engagement with customers during the trial phase, ensuring successful conclusion of technical evaluations.
  • Deliver advanced product and technical briefings/presentations to potential clients, highlighting Datadog's competitive advantages.
  • Maintain accurate notes and feedback in CRM regarding customer input, wins, and losses.
  • Proactively engage and communicate with customers and Datadog's business/technical teams regarding product feedback and the competitive landscape.
  • Collaborate with the product team to prioritize features based on customer, competitor, and partner feedback.
  • Educate customers on observability risks meaningful to their business and build/execute evaluation plans.
  • Articulate both the business benefits and technical advantages of Datadog's offerings.
  • Travel to client sites as necessary to deliver presentations, demos, and to support sales efforts.

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in a Sales Engineering or DevOps Engineering role, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills in languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.JS, PHP, and .NET.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to understand and articulate both the business benefits and technical advantages of Datadog's offerings.
  • Experience in educating customers on observability risks and executing evaluation plans.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and travel up to 45% of the time, including auto, train, or air travel.
  • A passion for technology and continuous learning, with an interest in staying updated on the latest developments in the digital skills and sales engineering fields.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks effectively and managing time efficiently.
