About the Role

The Senior Sales Planning and Strategy Manager role at Samsara Inc. is a critical position that will drive the annual operating planning process and shape key strategic priorities. This role will work closely with cross-functional partners to bring structure to planning, improve how the company operates, and ensure teams are aligned on priorities, timelines, and execution. As part of the Sales Strategy and Planning Team, this position will contribute to the company's mission to improve the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of physical operations.

Day-to-day, this role will involve collaborating with various teams, including Strategic Finance, Marketing, Product, Sales Ops, and Strategy, to build a detailed plan that supports revenue growth across all business segments. The successful candidate will be responsible for determining where growth will come from over the next three years and ensuring that the plans built are executed as part of the annual operating plan.

The Sales Strategy and Planning Team's mandate is to partner cross-functionally to realize growing revenue targets across new business and renewals, scale the organization sustainably, and address new business opportunities and challenges. This role will play a pivotal part in achieving these objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Drive the Annual Operating Planning (AOP) process by leading end-to-end program management of AOP across Sales and cross-functional teams.
  • Define key strategic levers, including organizational changes and major investments, and support leaders in translating long-term goals into actionable plans.
  • Lead strategic projects in support of Samsara's long-term growth, working cross-functionally to structure problems, develop hypotheses, conduct analyses to turn data into meaningful insights, and drive solutions and actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Sales leaders, Business Operations, and Finance to ensure alignment on priorities and execution.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insights to stakeholders.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Product, and Finance.
  • Provide data-driven insights to inform sales strategy and planning decisions.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in sales planning and strategy.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in sales planning, strategy, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams.
  • Experience with GTM, Excel, and Google Sheets.
  • Strong understanding of sales operations and strategy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Product, and Finance.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the technology industry.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools.
