Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Consumer - Growth & App Infra)

## About the Role As a Senior Software Engineer at Coinbase, you will be part of a team that is pushing the boundaries of what is possible with crypto and blockchain technology. Your day-to-day work will involve solving unique, large-scale, and highly complex technical problems, bridging the constraints posed by web-scale applications and blockchain technology. You will be working closely with a team of high-caliber engineers to build the next generation of systems that make cryptocurrency accessible to everyone globally.

The Consumer & Business Group (CBG) at Coinbase is focused on delivering exceptional consumer and business experiences across financial services, trading, and growth initiatives. Within CBG, the Growth organization is dedicated to growing Coinbase to a billion active users globally by driving sustainable user growth through innovative acquisition, engagement, and retention strategies.

## What You Will Do - Design, develop, and maintain large-scale systems that are secure, reliable, and efficient - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements - Develop and implement automated testing and deployment scripts - Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the codebase - Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues - Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the crypto and blockchain space - Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the team - Work with product managers to understand business requirements and develop technical solutions - Develop and maintain technical documentation - Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 coverage of systems

## What We Are Looking For - 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend development - Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ - Experience with cloud-based systems, such as AWS or Google Cloud - Strong understanding of database systems, including relational and NoSQL databases - Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment - Excellent communication and collaboration skills - Experience with security best practices and protocols - Strong understanding of crypto and blockchain technology

## Nice to Have - Experience with containerization using Docker - Knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration - Experience with machine learning and data science - Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as Jenkins or CircleCI - Experience with security audits and compliance
