About the Role
The Senior Software Engineer, Backend role at Coinbase is a unique opportunity to be part of a team that's pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the crypto space. As a key member of the Brazil team, you'll be responsible for building out the next generation of crypto-forward products and features, with a focus on driving growth and adoption in the Brazilian market. You'll be working closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and product management, to turn the company's vision into a tangible roadmap.The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will involve solving complex technical problems, designing and building production-ready services, and collaborating with other engineers to maintain and scale the company's backend systems. You'll be expected to write high-quality, well-tested code and have a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end feature lifecycle.

What You Will Do
- Deliver creative customer-facing features to bring 1 billion people on chain
- Articulate a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling the company's backend systems
- Work with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn the product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter
- Build high-quality, well-tested features to meet the needs of customers
- Actively mentor junior engineers and facilitate their career development
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to launch features tailored to the Brazilian market
- Run localized marketing campaigns and ensure the Coinbase experience meets the expectations of Brazilian users
- Identify and mitigate risks that could affect the business, while continuously improving processes to align with Brazilian regulatory standards
- Optimize KYC flows and refine internal operations to build long-term trust and sustainability in the Brazilian market
What We Are Looking For
- At least 5+ years of experience in software engineering
- Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services
- Knowledge of how to compose a service-oriented architecture
- Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code with a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end feature lifecycle
- Passion for crypto and blockchain technology, and a desire to build the future of finance
- Experience working with high-caliber colleagues and a willingness to receive and act on feedback
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and containerization (e.g., Docker)
Nice to Have
- Experience with machine learning or artificial intelligence
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Kubernetes)
