About the Role
The Senior Software Engineer, Frontend, will play a critical role in the Consumer Payments team at Coinbase. As a leader in frontend development, you will own end-to-end development for core crypto money movement experiences, including send, receive, and transaction status tracking across web and mobile. Your work will directly impact the user experience of millions of customers worldwide.Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with the product, design, and backend engineering teams to scope, prioritize, and ship projects that reduce customer friction and improve the overall payment experience. You will also mentor junior engineers and drive down customer friction at scale.
The Consumer Payments team is part of the Consumer Product Group, which owns the infrastructure, experiences, and controls that power how users send, receive, and move crypto on Coinbase. As a senior engineer, you will be part of a team that values performance, reliability, and user experience.
What You Will Do
- Own end-to-end frontend development for core crypto money movement experiences
- Drive measurable improvements in latency, availability, and SLOs for payment flows
- Build new user-facing features like contact management systems and real-time transaction status trackers
- Partner with product, design, and backend engineering to scope, prioritize, and ship projects
- Identify and resolve frontend performance bottlenecks across payment flows
- Collaborate with the team to reduce end-to-end latency and improve reliability for millions of users
- Mentor junior engineers and operate as a senior technical voice on the team
- Utilize generative AI responsibly to drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality
- Participate in quarterly 'surges' for in-person working sessions
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in frontend engineering and apply this knowledge to improve the payment experience
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in React and React Native
- Proven track record of shipping consumer-facing products end-to-end in a high-scale environment
- Experience owning SLOs and driving measurable improvements in latency and availability
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and operate as a senior technical voice
- Utilizes generative AI responsibly to deliver business-ready outputs
- Strong understanding of performance optimization and user experience
- Ability to work in a remote-first environment and collaborate with teams globally
- Experience with frontend development for crypto or payments is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
