About the Role
The Senior Software Engineer, Frontend - Identity role at Coinbase is a unique opportunity to work on the forefront of digital finance. As a member of the Horizontal Frontend team within the Identity organization, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the frontend surfaces that power critical user interactions, including login, signup, OAuth, account security, and multi-factor authentication. The team's primary focus is on migrating main frontend views to React Native, enabling a unified codebase across platforms. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires collaboration with multiple cross-functional teams to deliver seamless, scalable, and reliable user experiences.The Identity team manages everything related to a user's identity at Coinbase, making this a critical component of the company's mission to increase economic freedom. The team works closely with backend pods to ensure that the frontend experiences are not only visually appealing but also highly performant and secure. As a senior engineer, you will be expected to contribute to the technical vision of the team, helping to drive the development of new features and the improvement of existing ones. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to turn product and technical visions into tangible roadmaps. Your expertise in modern frontend technologies like React and TypeScript will be essential in designing and implementing scalable, maintainable, and high-performance user interfaces.
What You Will Do
- Build and enhance frontend experiences for login, signup, OAuth, account security, and multi-user/multi-organization support
- Contribute to the migration of main frontend views to React Native, ensuring a unified and efficient codebase across platforms
- Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and high-performance user interfaces using modern frontend technologies like React and TypeScript
- Collaborate with backend engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn product and technical visions into tangible roadmaps
- Maintain low-latency, highly reliable frontend surfaces to deliver a world-class user experience
- Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet the needs of Coinbase's growing user base
- Participate in code reviews to ensure the highest standards of quality and best practices
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in frontend technologies and contribute to the technical vision of the team
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
- Develop and maintain technical documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration
What We Are Looking For
- At least 5+ years of experience in frontend software engineering
- Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production-grade frontend systems
- Expertise in modern frontend frameworks like React and TypeScript
- Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code to meet the needs of customers
- Passion for building an open financial system that brings the world together
- Demonstrated ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots in daily workflows

- Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with on-chain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services
