About the Role

The Senior Software Engineer position at ClickHouse is a pivotal role in the company's mission to revolutionize how companies use data. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing the core platform of ClickStack, an open-source observability platform that transforms telemetry data into actionable insights. Your day-to-day work will involve collaborating with a talented team of engineers to build a petabyte-scale, high-performance observability platform that focuses on crafting an amazing developer experience.

The role entails working on the backend systems and APIs that power ClickStack, ensuring the platform can ingest, query, and analyze observability data at massive scale. You will also be involved in scaling deployments and infrastructure, using Kubernetes, Helm, and infrastructure-as-code to make deployments simple and resilient. Maintainability and operational excellence are key, and you will define best practices for CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and alerting.

What You Will Do

  • Design and implement backend systems and APIs that power ClickStack
  • Scale deployments and infrastructure using Kubernetes, Helm, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Define best practices for CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and alerting
  • Build ingestion and data processing pipelines that remain performant and resilient
  • Collaborate with open-source contributors and customers to solve their challenges and incorporate their feedback
  • Architect, deploy, and maintain cloud-native systems that ensure reliability, scalability, and performance
  • Drive automation across testing, scaling, and incident response
  • Ensure the platform remains healthy and developer-friendly
  • Engage with the community to understand their needs and contribute to the roadmap

What We Are Looking For

  • A backend engineer with 5+ years of experience in building high-performance, distributed systems
  • Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills, with a bonus for additional languages
  • Deep understanding of APIs, event-driven systems, and high-throughput data pipelines
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with analytical databases
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, plus Helm for managing production deployments
  • Passion for reliability, scalability, and creating systems that “just work” in production
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
