Senior Software Engineer, SRE

## About the Role As a Senior Software Engineer, SRE at Coinbase, you will play a critical role in improving the reliability and availability of our systems. Your day-to-day responsibilities will entail collaborating with various engineering teams to build software that is world-class in terms of reliability. You will be part of the Reliability Engineering team, which proactively seeks out and gathers state-of-the-art best practices from the industry at large. Through education and advocacy, you will help ensure that reliability is a core value of our engineering culture.

## What You Will Do - Improve observability, reliability, and availability by defining and measuring key metrics - Build automation and improve systems to eliminate toil and operations work - Collaborate with our core infrastructure team to performance tune and optimize our cloud deployments - Collaborate with Coinbase product teams to reduce service disruptions and automate incident response - Proactively find and analyze reliability problems across our business units and stack, then design and implement software to create step-function improvements - Educate, mentor, and hold accountable the engineering team to improve the reliability of our systems and make reliability a core value of the Coinbase engineering culture - Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet the needs of your customers - Work closely with the rest of engineering to ensure that reliability is a core aspect of our software development lifecycle - Participate in on-call rotations to ensure the reliability and uptime of our systems - Collaborate across the organization to help drive the adoption of reliability best practices

## What We Are Looking For - Passion for crypto and blockchain technology - 5+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably in a reliability or SRE role - Proficiency in Excel and experience with cloud deployments (Think Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, EC2, etc.) - Strong understanding of software development principles, patterns, and practices - Excellent communication and collaboration skills - Experience with automation and tooling to improve reliability - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment - Experience with education and advocacy to drive reliability best practices - A keen interest in staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies

## Nice to Have - Experience with machine learning or data analytics - Familiarity with agile development methodologies - Certification in cloud computing or DevOps practices - Experience working in a remote-first environment - Participation in open-source projects or personal coding projects
