About the Role

Twilio is revolutionizing the way businesses communicate, and we're looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our SMS Engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing our SMS connectivity layer, ensuring seamless communication for our clients. What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy features alongside an experienced, distributed collaborative team
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards
  • Work independently to troubleshoot and determine resolution for issues in your team's domain
  • Manage your work through the use of Github, Jira, and our build/deploy systems
  • Ensure quality by writing unit-, integration-, and load-tests
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
  • Develop and maintain complex distributed platforms in Java, focusing on availability, throughput, latency, and data integrity
  • Utilize cloud technologies to enable deployment and management of computing resources globally
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 support for our systems

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience with Java frameworks such as Dropwizard, Spring, Hibernate, or similar
  • Experience with Cloud services (AWS preferred, Google, Azure, etc.)
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems
  • Knowledge of processes and engineering best practices in all phases of the software development life cycle
  • Readiness to participate in the on-call rotation
  • Strong communication skills and desire to make an impact and thrive in small, collaborative, energetic teams
  • Experience with microservice architecture (desired)
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies (desired)

Nice to Have

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning concepts
  • Certification in cloud computing or related fields
