Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Solutions Architect at Temporal Technologies plays a pivotal role in the company's New Logo team, focusing on the Western region. This position is integral to driving the adoption of Temporal's cloud service, working closely with prospects and customers to understand their application needs and demonstrate the technical advantages of the platform. As a customer-facing technical leader, the successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders, including Account Executives, to develop comprehensive account plans and manage key technical relationships.

The role is critical in positioning Temporal as a leading solution against competing technologies and architectural patterns. By fostering an environment that encourages the adoption and expansion of Temporal in production environments, the Senior Solutions Architect will contribute to the company's mission of simplifying code and making applications more reliable.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with prospects to determine the suitability of their applications for Temporal's platform
  • Educate customers and prospects on the technical benefits and limitations of Temporal's platform and cloud service
  • Position Temporal as a leading solution against competing technologies and architectural patterns
  • Foster an environment within customer engineering organizations to increase the adoption and expansion of Temporal in production environments
  • Partner closely with Account Executives to develop and execute comprehensive account plans
  • Manage and nurture relationships with technical decision-makers within customer organizations
  • Provide insightful advice on architectural topics, including application patterns and platform architectures
  • Assist Sales Account Executives with scoping and sizing opportunities and offering guidance on technical fit and challenges
  • Present, whiteboard, and write to communicate complex technical ideas effectively

What We Are Looking For

  • Reside within the Mountain or Pacific time zones
  • Exceptional technical communication skills, including presenting, whiteboarding, and writing
  • Deep understanding of distributed system technologies, design principles, and best practices
  • Proficiency in building application prototypes and providing design, development, build, and deployment guidance using one or more of Temporal's supported languages: Java, Golang, TypeScript, Python, C#, or PHP
  • Firm grasp of operational considerations in production environments, such as security, reliability, performance, cost management, and operations
  • Experience with at least one major cloud provider and familiarity with commonly used application development and production services
  • Ability to provide insightful advice on architectural topics, including application patterns and platform architectures
  • Strong understanding of application development and production services

Nice to Have

  • Experience with open-source programming models and communities
  • Familiarity with Temporal's technology stack and ecosystem
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as a solutions architect or technical account manager
  • Certification in cloud computing or a related field
