About the Role

As a Senior Staff Data Engineer at SmithRx, you will be part of a team that transforms data into insights to solve real-world Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) challenges. Your work will empower the Data Analytics and Machine Learning teams to make drug pricing transparent and easy to understand. You will design, implement, and maintain distributed systems to collect, aggregate, and govern pharmaceutical data, leveraging open-source tools like Airflow and DBT.

What You Will Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain large-scale data systems to support the company's growth
  • Develop and optimize data pipelines to improve data quality and reduce latency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data engineering projects
  • Lead the development of data engineering solutions and provide technical guidance to junior team members
  • Work with open-source tools like Airflow and DBT to build and manage data workflows
  • Develop and maintain data governance policies to ensure data security and compliance
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the codebase
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve the data engineering practice
  • Collaborate with the Data Analytics team to develop data visualizations and reports
  • Work with the Machine Learning team to develop and deploy predictive models

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building and maintaining large-scale data systems
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or Scala
  • Experience with open-source tools like Airflow, DBT, and Apache Beam
  • Strong understanding of data governance and security principles
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms like AWS or GCP
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex data issues
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI
