About the Role

The Senior Staff Product Designer, Risk at Stripe is a critical role that requires a deep understanding of user-centered design principles and the ability to lead cross-functional teams. As a key member of the Risk team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering user-facing experiences that help businesses manage risk and comply with regulatory requirements. Your work will have a direct impact on Stripe's ability to innovate and expand globally, serving the world's most ambitious companies.

The Risk team is evolving into a product pillar, and your contributions will help shape the future of risk management at Stripe. You will partner with product managers, engineers, researchers, and strategists to define and deliver products that meet the needs of Stripe's customers. Your expertise in designing complex, data-driven experiences will be essential in driving the success of this team.

What You Will Do

  • Lead design across critical Risk experiences, shaping the strategy for new products and defining AI-driven and agent-friendly workflows
  • Design experiences that help users onboard quickly, stay compliant, and manage risk with clarity and control
  • Partner with product, engineering, policy, operations, and research to define both near-term improvements and longer-term opportunities
  • Raise the craft bar in a domain where quality and trust matter deeply
  • Work across dozens of teams to create beautiful patterns for risk and compliance experiences across Stripe
  • Explore, shape, and prototype new ideas and products
  • Influence strategy through strong product thinking, storytelling, and design judgment
  • Lead design on complex, cross-functional problems with multiple stakeholders and constraints
  • Collaborate across the Risk team and the wider Stripe design team to influence the shape and visual standards for all product surfaces
  • Help other Risk designers and cross-functional partners raise the bar on craft, and adopt systems thinking

What We Are Looking For

  • 12+ years of experience designing products, with a strong portfolio demonstrating excellent craft, systems thinking, and end-to-end design
  • Expertise in designing complex, data-driven experiences, with a focus on user-centered design principles
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders
  • Experience working with design systems, with a focus on creating beautiful patterns for risk and compliance experiences
  • Strong understanding of business goals and objectives, with the ability to drive design decisions that meet customer needs
  • Experience working with Excel, with the ability to analyze and visualize data to inform design decisions
  • Strong portfolio that demonstrates your expertise in designing user-centric experiences

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in the fintech or payments industry, with a understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance
  • Knowledge of AI-driven and agent-friendly workflows, with experience designing and implementing these systems
  • Experience working with cloud-based design tools, such as Figma or Sketch
  • Certification in design or a related field, such as UX design or human-computer interaction
