About the Role
The Senior/Staff Software Engineer position at Sei Labs is a critical role that involves leading the development of core components of the Sei Blockchain. As a key member of the protocol engineering team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, optimize, and implement the foundational layers of a high-performance, scalable decentralized network. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include writing code, identifying and driving optimizations, and collaborating with the frontend team to fine-tune the REST API.The Sei Blockchain is designed to scale with the industry, enabling Web3 applications to reach Web2 level scale and performance. This is achieved through unique optimizations that allow for parallelized execution, making it an attractive solution for developers and users alike. As a Senior/Staff Software Engineer, you will be at the forefront of this technology, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in blockchain development.
You will be part of a globally distributed team with a fully remote workforce, which requires strong communication and collaboration skills. Your experience in infrastructure engineering, combined with your technical expertise and leadership abilities, will be invaluable in driving the success of the Sei Blockchain.
What You Will Do
- Write code to build the core Sei Blockchain, including consensus, state management, and other foundational components
- Proactively identify and drive optimizations and improvements to the product
- Collaborate with the frontend team to fine-tune the REST API and support customers
- Take ownership over your work and the work of the team, ensuring high-quality deliverables and timely completion of projects
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the codebase
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, applying this knowledge to improve the Sei Blockchain
- Collaborate with ecosystem partners to drive adoption and growth of the Sei Blockchain
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, ensuring that it is accurate and up-to-date
- Participate in the planning and execution of large-scale projects, applying your technical expertise and leadership skills
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with a focus on blockchain development
- Proven results in building or scaling Layer 1 blockchains, with a strong understanding of performance optimization
- Strong technical grasp and excellent judgment on task prioritization
- Ability to tackle complex engineering problems and deliver results
- History of creating and applying new processes and tooling to increase engineering efficiency
- Experience with low-level systems design and development
- Strong understanding of decentralization and scalability principles
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment
Nice to Have
- Experience with Excel and other data analysis tools
- Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure and containerization
- Knowledge of smart contract development and decentralized applications
